A crib in the house

Funny how there are certain moments that drive home a future reality you might not fully have internalized yet. This invariably happens to me walking back into a room that had been familiar for years in a house I've have just moved out of. The dust bunnies float in the corners and somehow with all the pictures off the walls and the furniture gone, something more profound has left the space as well. Then the process happens in reverse as those pictures, furniture pieces, and many other familiar objects occupy a new unfamiliar space. A sense of home travels as it turns out.

Seeing the crib set up in the new nursery was something like this. An unfamiliar object suddenly was occupying a familiar space. But like our stuff carrying a sense of home from one house to another, the crib came with some thing more: a sense of profound changes around the corner yet not fully imagined or known.
